The sample reservoir for the CT scanner (order no. 60200) is made of thin plates of acrylic glass. This ensures good coupling of the probes to the wall of the reservoir. In the case of acrylic the jump in acoustic impedance when moving to water is relatively slight compared with glass, so reflections can be largely avoided. The reservoir has several probe supports with which the ultrasonic probes can be fixed directly to the reservoir.
