Aluminium Sample for Shear Wave Set

For the determination of elastic material constants from the longitudinal and transversal sound wave velocity there is a third material sample made of aluminium. In aluminium, both the longitudinal and the transversal sound velocity are higher than in water. The aluminium sample is furthermore suitable as a movable reflecting plate for measurements using the pulse-echo method, e.g. to determine the acoustic attenuation in liquids.
